Javier Fernandez-Han Excellence in Community Scholarship

A scholarship to recognize exceptional students living in Mumbai India. Current and past scholars live in slums and volunteer at schools which provide education to children living in a “Tribal” community. This community lacks political voice and leverage and lives in dire poverty surrounded by wild animals in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.

Conrad Foundation’s “Spirit of Innovation” Award contest

First place winner for designing the ACWa System, an invention for creating affordable clean drinking water for developing countries. ACWa condenses clean water from humid air using only wind, solar and geothermal energy. The patent-pending ACWa was also selected to receive commercialization support from the Conrad Foundation through its Portal program. Article here. (2010)A patent for ACWa was filed in 2011. We are a team of adults and youths representing a diversity of cultures, ages, experiences, and viewpoints. We are based in Texas, USA but our work crosses borders. We were originally conceived in 2005 by Javier Fernandez-Han when he was 11 years old.
